The Different Styles Of Wireless Microphones!

Wireless Microphones

If you are in the market for a wireless microphone, you have your work cut out for you. There are a few different styles of wireless microphones to choose from. This blog will review some of the different types of wireless microphones available on the market today.

Combo systems are just what the name implies. The system comes with one or two microphones (either hand held or headset) and a receiver. It is everything you need to get started. Most systems I looked at had at least two channels, to swap between mics. Prices for combo systems range from $350 to $1700.

Broadcast, ENG system, again are as the name implies. They are systems that are made to be used with a camcorder or other visual recording devices. The system comes with a wireless mic/transmitter and a camera mounted receiver. A basic system will run you under $200, but the more advanced you go the more expensive you get. Top broadcast sytems can run upwards of $1300.

You can simply purchase a single hand held microphone with receiver. Purchase prices range anywhere from $100 to just over $1000.

Verizon Wireless Expanding Coverage from Coast to Coast!

Verizon Wireless

Even though Verizon Wireless is not the nation's leading cell phone carrier, they are greatly expanding their coverage to give their existing customers better coverage. While the "Can you hear me now" commercials are amusing, is it really amusing when you constantly drop calls.

In an article I read last month, a few of the major cell phone carriers were getting rid of their analog service, so it wasn’t at all surprising to me that Verizon Wireless is putting up new cell sites.

One of the new cell sites has been placed in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania. Not only will the new cell site improve reception along State Route 8, it will also improve reception in Wildwood.

Two new cell sites have also been erected in De Soto Missouri. These two towers will greatly improve voice and data calls along Routes 67 & 110.

With expansion already underway, it most likely won’t be long before a new cell site comes to your neck of the woods.

The New HP Wireless Printer!

Wireless Printer

HP has released a new wireless printer. The HP photo smart C4380 is the latest in wireless printers. The printer was designed to run with no USB cables from the printer to the computer, after initial installation. The printer can be placed anywhere on your wireless network, that there is an electrical outlet.

Not only can you wireless print documents to the new photo smart wireless printer, you can also scan wirelessly to your desktop. This wireless printer is on the low end of the spectrum. The average retail price is approximately $150. Making it affordable to just about everyone.

My last two printers were HP inkjet printers, that printed pictures just fine and their cost was under $50. There are ways of setting up your wired printer that is attached to your desktop to print wirelessly from your laptop, but it proves to be a headache setting up the printer on your existing wireless network.

Sprint Wireless, Number Three and Falling Quickly!

Sprint Wireless

I would not be terribly surprised if Sprint Wireless merges with either AT and T or Verizon Wireless. They are currently and respectively number one and two in the market.
Sprint Wireless continues to loose subscribers hand over fist.

In the third quarter of last year, Sprint Wireless lost 337,000 subscribers. Which was an alarming number for the company. How did they react? What did they do? Apparently not enough. Sprint Wireless has reportedly lost more than a half of million customers in the fourth quarter. Their loss is their competitor's gain. AT and T is the number one wireless company in the country and not ironically have added approximately 2.5 million new subscribers in their fourth quarter!

AT T Wireless, Not Your Parent's AT T!

AT T Wireless

AT T Wireless was your parent's AT T, just without the wireless. The once landline long distance company is slowly loosing ground on landline services. Most college students no longer get phone service in their dorms and just stick with their cell phones. While others who do have landlines, well they now get that from their cable company. AT T has struggled to get to where they are today, but what a job they've done.

After all the mergers and all of the names, the current AT T Wireless is becoming more popular. Their number of subscribers rose from 1.6 million in the first quarter to 2.1 million subscribers at the end of the fourth quarter of 2007. AT T did receive "Marketer of the Year" award from Marketing Daily, most likely due to the fact that AT T Wireless has been able to secure exclusive deals with handset makers. Since the introduction of the iPhone, AT T has activated 1.1 million of them!

In the Market for Wireless Door Chimes?

Wireless Door Chimes

Wireless door chimes can be a nice addition or change to your home. Like most other projects you have to do, this project is an easy-do-it yourself project. Of course there are no wires to install or run, but put in a battery and turn on? Some systems are that simple.

Not only is it that easy to install, your options are almost limitless. Most wireless door chimes do have adapters or additional receivers that you can place by other doors in your home. You can even set these to different ring tones so you know by sound which door is opening. As far a chime goes, well they have everything from a simple ding-dong, to happy birthday, to Christmas carols. Some newer models you can even plug into your cd player and make your own chime. The options are limitless.
