Clearing The Confusion Of Bluetooh Wireless Headsets

bluetooth wireless headset
Bluetooth is probably the most misunderstood child born in the wireless age. Beyond its weird name, what it can do and how it works is not exactly common knowledge. You can now find Bluetooth in an array of products: wireless phones, PC's, cameras, GPS devices, handheld sets, and even cars.

Although it sounds complicated, Bluetooth headsets work in a simple manner. The technology was first developed by Ericcson, and then formalized in 1999; it provides a way for different devices to communicate with each other by sending data via a secure, low-cost short-range radio frequency. Using this technology, cell phones can talk to headsets, PC's can talk to printers or keyboards, and handhelds can talk to each other without any wires.

Up to seven connections can be made at one time, at a very fast speed. All that is needed for any two Bluetooth-enabled devices to work is for them to be paired-normally, a hassle-free "handshaking" process for establishing a connection that takes seconds and can be found in most wireless connectivity menus.

While Bluetooth may resemble Wi-Fi in its use of the same frequency range, the similarities stop there. Bluetooth covers one-fifth the total range of Wi-Fi, and Wi-Fi requires more-expensive hardware and reaches greater distances. Additionally, Bluetooth lets two devices communicate with each other while Wi-Fi establishes a wireless network.

Cingluar Wireless Is Now AT&T

cingular wireless
In a world of crazy competition, it is good to finally see two wireless juggernauts come together to form a huge company. Cingular wireless was a fairly new company about ten years ago. They tried to compete with the big guns of Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T. In recent wireless news, AT&T has acquired Cingular Wireless and they have formed a huge wireless service. Trying to compete with Verizon Wireless, AT&T got one step closer in competition by acquiring one of its competitors.

AT&T now covers all areas all over the country because of its Cingular coverage. Their new company slogan is Your World. Delivered. The reason behind this slogan is their amazing coverage across the country. Previously, Cingular was only available in select areas of the country. A state's largest city would easily have coverage, but once you were outside the city limits, coverage became a question.

Now with AT&T and Cingular as one company, you can feel free to roam the United States and have coverage in all areas. With alot of wireless companies to choose from, when you look at cell phone coverage in your area, do not forget about AT&T as a good provider.

Could Subways Be The Next Wireless Nextwork?

Wireless network
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is planning to vote next week to allow many companies to build a network inside the New York City Subways.

The companies, known as Transit Wireless, is made up of telecom and construction companies that include Dianet Communications, Nab Construction, Q-Wireless, and Transit Technologies. Transit Wireless was formed to respond to the MTA's Request for Proposal to design, market, install, own, operate, and maintain a cellular network for New York City Transit Authority riders within the city's 277 underground subway stations.

If the proposal is approved next week, Transit Wireless will pay New York City Transit approximately $46.8 million over a 10-year period. Transit Wireless will provide the infrastructure over which wireless carriers will need to offer cellular services. The intention is to have various carriers serve as tenants on the network.

Several carriers have already expressed interest, but Transit Wireless has not been able to negotiate and discuss the project with them since the MTA has not yet given its final approval.

Verizon Wireless Upgrades Capacity

verizon wireless

Verizon FiOS Web clients will now get enhanced email storage and access to their Verizon.net home email accounts with some Verizon Wireless Get It Now-enabled phones from Verizon Wireless.

Upgraded features of the enhanced Verizon email include the ability to access accounts from any PC, an improved Webmail application, greater storage capacity and an unlimited email retention period for active users. This provides Verizon customers better and easier ways to stay connected at home and on the go. Verizon also expects to eventually expand the new email offering to its Verizon High Speed Internet customers.

"Personal e-mail, including digital photo, music and video files, is a critical part of everyday life and we're making it easier for our customers to conveniently access and manage their mail," said Peter Castleton, director of Verizon Consumer Broadband Services. "This update to our Verizon.net e-mail accounts frees FiOS customers to store up to 4 GB (gigabytes) of messages online for as long as they want, plus access it online or on their cell phones with the same capabilities they enjoy at home."
